Organised by the Friends of CLS, the event saw a packed out Great Hall filled with parents, staff, and pupils, who enjoyed an evening of outstanding jazz.
Saxophone group opened the concert, with a slick performance conducted by Senior Sixth pupil, Luke. Two of our school rock bands followed – the Fourth Form band ‘City Rioters’ and Senior Sixth Form ‘EC4V’ with songs ranging from the Red Hot Chili Peppers to The Beatles.
The highlight of the concert came from the Senior Sixth Form jazz band ‘One Square Mile’, who played a selection of jazz standards in their set, featuring solos from all 4 members in their final concert at CLS. Many audience members commented that you would pay to go and see something of that standard at Ronnie Scotts!
Swing Band and Jazz Orchestra closed out the concert, with a variety of songs from Skyfall, to jazz standards by Chuck Mangione and Buddy Rich.
A huge thanks to the Music department and Jazz musicians – in particular the Senior Sixth Form leavers, for whom this was their final concert! A suitably musical farewell.
